Traditional Italian Pasta Half Day Cookery Course

Tickle your taste buds with all kinds of flavoured and traditional fresh pasta.

We’ll show you how to make a wide variety of fillings and sauces to compliment your pasta and then give you the chance to express yourself by creating your own dish using a selection of fresh ingredients such as juicy vine ripened tomatoes, olives, pancetta, tender chicken, herbs and spices, wines and vinegar – the list goes on and on.

So dust off your pasta machine and book onto this Italian experience, you can even try making your own ciabatta with a glass of chilled Chianti.

Nigel holds these exclusive classes in his very own cookery school kitchen so you can enjoy the pleasure of cooking in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All the equipment we use is similar to what you will find in domestic kitchens up and down the country so whatever you learn you can recreate in your own home.

We limit our class size to a maximum of 8 so it doesn’t matter whether you’re an accomplished cook or can only switch on a kettle, we have the time to teach everyone some new skills and give you the individual attention you deserve.

The Nigel Brown Cookery Academy

All our courses, whether it be a half day session or a full day course with lunch, are fully hands-on and at the end of the class you can take your dishes to enjoy at home.

The academy can be found nestled at the foot of the Humber Bridge in Barton upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, within a Grade II listed building known as The Ropewalk. Hall’s Barton Ropery was an international name of excellence in the shipping and many other industries for 200 years. Hall’s Ropes made on the Barton site were used on all the major shipping lines and for the first ascent of Everest.

The factory was closed in 1989 and lay dormant until April 2000 when one fifth of the building was restored and opened as an arts centre housing 2 galleries, artists workshops, picture framing business and a Heritage Display. The centre currently attracts in excess of 20,000 visitors per year and is run by The Waterside Artists Co-operative.

In September 2005 the rest of the building was restored and is now home to 12 artist’s studios and 18 units being used for creative industries including digital, media, design and other related industries including a fantastic coffee shop and The Nigel Brown Cookery Academy.

The Academy is easily accessible by car, roughly an hours’ drive from Lincoln, Leeds, York and Sheffield with plenty of free parking. You can also reach us by train or bus, our nearest bus/rail station is Barton and the academy is a short walk away.

Men Behaving Badly at Newby Hall Food and Craft Show

 
 
The Boys Are Back In Town
 
This weekend saw some great entertainment at the Newby Hall Craft and Food Show in North Yorkshire with Dan from Pumpkin Spice, Nigel Brown, Neil Morrissey and Richard Fox drawing the crowds with their cooking demonstrations.
 
Dan created some fantastic curry dishes using his unique curry kits, herbs and spices and then treated visitors to a tasting session. Nigel concocted a paupiette of tuna and bacon on a bed of spinach tagliatelli and mediterranean vegetables topped with a soft poached egg and followed it with an individual strawberry cheesecake with a sugar basket and spirals. Double act Richard and Neil cooked using their brand new beer ‘Blonde Ale’ which is produced in a micro brewery at the back of their pub Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn in Marton Cum Grafton near York.
 
Nigel, Richard and Dan will be weaving their culinary magic again next weekend in Penrith at Dalemain House so if you’re in the area be sure to pay a visit.

After spending two years at Weston Park this enormously popular show returns to its home at Shugborough Hall. Shugborough Hall is a tranquil setting in the heart of Cannock Chase National Park, one of the country’s finest areas of outstanding natural beauty. The show takes place on the front lawn of the ancestral home of the Earl of Lichfield and is bigger and better than ever before with trade stands, attractions and entertainment to keep the whole family entertained. Those of you with an eye for quality have the opportunity to browse and purchase an enormous array of products from up to 150 trade stands.

Shugborough lies just a few miles from the county town of Stafford and is well signed from Junction 13 of the M6. The main entrance is located at Milford Common on the A513 Stafford to Lichfield Road.

Follow the brown heritage tourist signs from Junction 13 of the M6.

 

BY TRAIN

The nearest mainline stations are Stafford and Rugeley.

 

BY BUS

A public transport stop is situated near to the pedestrian entrance to Shugborough in the village of Great Haywood (Clifford Arms/Essex bridge). Arriva bus routes are 841/844 Stafford / Rugeley.
